On Saturday, September 27th, the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams traveled to New Jersey to compete in the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational—one of the premier 5K cross country events in the Northeast. Over 150 schools from New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia participated in the event.

What makes this invitational unique is that the race course winds through parts of the Six Flags Wild Safari, offering athletes a one-of-a-kind racing experience.

“It’s a great opportunity for our teams to compete against strong programs from outside New York City,” said Boys Head Coach Morgan Elinson. “And at the same time, they get to travel, bond, and have a great time together at the amusement park.”

“It was a splendid day overall,” added Girls Head Coach Dave Iurato.

Both teams return to Van Cortlandt Park for meets this week—Boys race on Monday and Girls on Tuesday. They’ll also be back in action on Saturday, October 25th, at Bronx Championships. We hope to see you there to cheer them!
