Boys Basketball Drops Two Games

On Wednesday night, December 20th the American Studies Senators played the School for Law, Government and Justice. It was a tough loss as the Senators fought throughout the entire game and stayed disciplined and focused. When the opponents took the lead, the Senators enthusiasm and absolute grit on the court did not waiver until after the final buzzer sounded.

Highlights of the game include Patrick Spencer putting up a double/double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Brem also had a double/double as well with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Moreover, Aiden Tom started as point guard and was a leader on the court helping to break the press.

On Friday, December 22nd, the Senators fell to Explorations Academy. Zachary Brem scored a career high of 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Patrick Spencer scored 11 points and sank three shots from behind the arc. The Senators passed the ball well with 14 assists on 16 baskets. Boubacar Diallo led the team with six assists. Additional highlights include: Sebastian Ramos (5 points), Jacob Guzman-Garcia (3 points), and Max Hauser (3 points). The Senators shot just under 90 percent from the free throw line.

On Thursday, December 28, over 15 years of HSAS basketball came together at the old gym for a day filled with basketball and valuable learning experiences.

On Friday January 5th, the American Studies Boy’s Senators rallied against Archimedes Academy. Trailing 24-16 at halftime, the Senators went on a 10-point run to take the lead during the second half. The game remained close and, when the buzzer sounded, the score was tied. The game went into overtime and the Senators pulled through winning 55-53, with a clutch three pointer by Jacob Guzman to win the game.

Players all around rose to the occasion. Captain Sebastian Ramos had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Zachary Brem scored 25 points and secured 10 rebounds. Moreover, Ace Andov not only was 100 percent from behind the arc making 2/2, but also had 4 assists. Aiden Tom was a defensive beast with five steals.
