After an intense training camp that began on August 19th, featuring 12 practices before the school year even started, the Girls Tennis Team launched their season with a commanding 5-0 victory over non-League opponent Eleanor Roosevelt High School on September 6th. Seniors Sophie Brettschneider, Joyce Lee, and Claire Catena secured singles victories. In doubles, Maya Stone paired with Samiha Ali, and Keira Hegarty teamed up with Isabella Chernobelsky to clinch wins.
Next up for the Senators was the 2023 City Finalist, Beacon High School. The Senators narrowly missed a win, falling 3-2 to Beacon. The match was highlighted by a dramatic 11-10 tiebreaker victory from the Stone Sisters (Maya and Alexa).
The Senators have a busy week ahead with three matches, starting on Monday, September 16th, against Stuyvesant.
