Baseball dominates Law and Government HS
The HSAS Senators Baseball Team played just one game this week, but they made it count in emphatic fashion. The Senators hit the road and delivered a commanding 13–2 victory over Bronx HS of Law and Government. David Caswell was outstanding on the mound, pitching a complete game while striking out seven batters and allowing only four hits. It was a stellar performance from start to finish. At the plate, the charge was led by the sensational senior trio of David Irom, Angel Mota, and Azad Antia. Together, they powered the offense with an incredible seven hits, nine RBIs, and seven runs scored. Have a day Seniors!
The Senators return to action next week with a busy three-game schedule, beginning Monday at home against FDA Academy. Be sure to come out and support the team—we’d love to see a big crowd cheering them on!
Comeback win highlights 2-0 week for Softball
HSAS Senators Softball Team completed a perfect 2–0 week, improving their record to 8–3 and moving to just half a game behind Fannie Lou Hammer HS for first place in the Bronx II Division. The highlight of the week came in dramatic fashion. After falling behind 11–0, the Senators refused to quit. They battled back inning by inning and finally took a thrilling 13–12 lead with a run in the bottom of the sixth to complete an unforgettable comeback victory. Josephine Levy led the way in the circle, striking out 10 batters in a strong performance.
Offensively, Avery Sammarco was the star of the day, collecting three hits—including two triples—and driving in five runs. Ashley Seo also delivered a huge performance, scoring three runs and swiping an incredible seven bases. Next up for the Senators is a showdown against first-place Fannie Lou Hammer HS at Harris Field. Both Baseball and Softball will be in action at Harris, making it a huge day for HSAS sports fans.
