On a beautiful fall Saturday, the boys and girls Cross Country teams led by Coach Morgan Elinson & Coach Dave Iurato took to the back hills of Van Cortlandt Park for the PSAL City Championships. It was a successful day for our teams as they both finished their seasons in the top 15 in the entire city!
Two individuals stood out for the Senators. On the girl’s side, it was junior Haley Rodriguez (25), and on the boy’s side, it was junior Jack McCurry (25). Both athletes qualified for the prestigious Federation State Championships, which will be held in Wappingers Falls on November 18.
Only the top 12 runners in the PSAL qualify for this event. Jack’s time of 16:52 officially broke the HSAS school record previously owned by Sam Brody (20).
“It was a terrific season for both teams – each excelled today,” said girl’s Coach Dave Iurato.” To send two athletes to states from such a small school is truly a fantastic accomplishment. Congratulations to everyone on these teams!”
