The members of HSAS’s Asian Student Union invited Senator John Liu to visit HSAS after school on May 25, in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The senator spoke about the importance of studying Asian American history as a means of addressing Anti-Asian prejudice, discrimination, and violence, and as a means of enhancing our knowledge and understanding of US History. He also addressed questions from the students about how and why he decided to run for public office and about his role as a state senator.
